Cooperative Research Centre for Smart Satellite Technologies and Analytics
16/04/2019Professor Andy Koronios, our Integration and Interoperability Theme Leader at the University of South Australia (UniSA) leads a successful bid on forming a new Cooperative Research Centre for Smart Satellite Technologies and Analytics – The SmartSat CRC.
The Hon. Karen Andrews, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, announced the successful establishment and funding of the SmartSat CRC on 15 April 2019. The CRC will be resourced by 84 Australian and international research and industry partners who will contribute $190 million cash and in-kind investment over a 7-year period. With the addition of the $55 million Federal Government funding through the Department of Industry, Science & Technology’s CRC program – the SmartSat CRC will be the biggest investment in space industry collaboration in Australia’s history
Whilst headquartered in South Australia, the SmartSat CRC will be a national Industry – research collaboration. It will ensure nation-wide involvement in the development of advanced communications and smart satellite technologies to help build Australia’s space industry, develop capability and know-how and help transform its major industries such as mining, agriculture and manufacturing.
