A History of ASA Standards

Asset Institute News readers may be interested in the following article published recently in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) on “A History of ASA Standards”. Please Click Here to access an on-line version of the paper. Alternatively, you may download a PDF version of the paper by Clicking Here!

The paper has been authored by Susan Blaeser, recently retired Standards Manager for the ASA, and Christopher J Struck, Standards Director, ASA. The Asset Institute’s connection to this paper is via the CEO’s involvement in ISO TC 108/SC 5 “Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics of Machine Systems”, which he chaired for 18 years retiring in 2014. Ms Blaeser served as Secretary to SC 5 for a good part of his term beginning in 2001.

The article would be of interest particularly to the condition monitoring community who may wish to know of the history of standardization in both mechanical vibrations and condition monitoring.
