- Links to industryLinks to industry: through the Asset Institute’s partner networks, member universities and research organisations have the opportunity to undertake collaborative projects with industry. The Asset Institute‘s industry members include representatives from the mining and resources, construction, defence, utilities, transportation, physical infrastructure, tourism and manufacturing sectors. Our industry training program puts PhD, Masters and vocational students to work on projects proposed by industry. As a side benefit, students will be prepared for opportunities to work in industry and matching skills with industry requirements, smoothing the uptake of graduates into industry. With the participation of both university and industry members, the Asset Institute is also able to unlock industry-partnered grants, such as Australian Research Council (ARC) linkage grants.

- Leveraged investment in asset management research and developmentLeveraged investment in asset management research and development: membership in the Asset Institute is a targeted investment in asset management research and development, leveraged through a brokered model. As part of research collaborations members will have first look rights to assess Background IP for potential use in relevant projects. If members identify Background IP that may be useful to them for other purposes, they may enter a separate project arrangement with the Institute on standard commercial terms. Members will have access to new project IP created by the Asset Institute for commercial use in recognition of their contribution to developing the IP.

Members will also have first look rights to assess Background IP for potential use in relevant projects and will have access to new project IP created by the Institute for commercial use in recognition of their contribution to developing the IP. This is likely to include patents. The Asset Institute’s current research and development pipeline includes a number of patent-pending demonstration projects with multinational asset intensive firms.
